Fake traditional healer, Mohamed Conteh, alias Jahanama Fire, and two others, Maxwell Brown and Santigie Kanualias, aka Papa, are standing trial at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1, which is presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma for allegedly killing three Guinean nationals.

This ugly incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, 25th February, this year, at Magbafeth Village, Newton, in the outskirts of Freetown. The accused were arraigned before the court on two counts charge of murder and obtaining money by false pretences, which are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The accused were apprehend by community people and handed over to the police at the Waterloo Police Station outside Freetown for further investigation. They were later transferred to the Eastern Regional Police Station on Ross Road in Freetown before they were charged to court for trial.

The details of the court state that Mohamed Conteh, alias Jahanama Fire, Maxwell Brown, and Santigie Kanu, alias Papa, on 25th February 2020, at Magbafeth Village, Newton, in the Waterloo Rural District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, murdered one Soriaba Conteh and Mabinty Dumbuya.

The court charge sheet further states that Mohamed Conteh, alias Jahanama Fire, and two others, on Tuesday 25th February this year, at Magbafeth Village in the Waterloo Rural District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, with intent to defraud, obtained forty million leones (Le 40,000,000) from Soriaba Conteh by falsely pretending that he would protect him from evil spirit, knowing the same to be false.

Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, Osman Mohamoud Bangura, sought for an adjournment on the basis that, on the next adjourned date, he would make his witnesses available in court and his application was granted.

The accused were yet to be represented and they were remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Service.

The matter comes up on the 3rd of April, 2020.
